Hugh
Bean obituary
Members will have been saddened by news of the
death of Hugh Bean. Hugh's recording of The
Lark Ascending is considered to be one
of the most magical recordings of that work. Those who attended the AGM
when Hugh was our guest speaker will have appreciated his delightful
qualities as a speaker, teacher and interpretor of English music. Elgar's
Violin Concerto, which he performed to great acclaim with Adrian Boult
at the 1969 Three Choirs Festival was another performance for which he
was famous.
