An invitation to join the Philharmonia
at Charterhouse
22 June 2008
In conjunction with the Philharmonia Orchestra’s
summer celebration of the works of Ralph Vaughan Williams, the Friends of
the Philharmonia would like to extend an invitation for members of the Ralph
Vaughan Williams Society to join them for a delightful day trip to Charterhouse,
the school where Vaughan Williams was once a student.
You will enjoy a personal tour of the school grounds
in picturesque Godalming, view rare Vaughan Williams archives and explore
the chamber music of Vaughan Williams over tea with a chamber performance
by members of the Philharmonia Orchestra. The programme will include: On
Wemlock Edge, Ten Blake Songs, Romance and Pastorale, and Holst’s rarely
heard Phatasiestuke for oboe and string quartet. –
Tickets are priced at £28 (including coach service) and £18 (travel
on your own) per person.
